The famous Inca World Wonder, Machu Picchu. This royal Inca sacred site is notoriously difficult to get to but was well worth the effort. Situated at 2430m above sea level you first have to travel by train from Cusco which sits in the Andean mountain range at 3400m. A shock to the system straight off the plane! Not an easy journey to undertake.

One of only a handful of ruins to survive the Spanish Conquistador onslaught, Machupicchu remained a secret location because only the high Incan royalty knew of it's hidden location.
