Maastricht Sunset depicts an autumn sunset in the Netherlands town of Maastricht, in the province of Limburg. Characterised by it's medieval architecture and vibrant culture, the sunset illustrates a transitory period on many levels. As the sun goes down, the natural light fades, and the twinkling lights of the town ignite. Sunset signals a kind of end, a finality, but the lights of the town challenge this preconception. As dusk (and eventually winter) falls, it is the spirit of the townspeople resisting the cold night that prevails.
