In this piece, I aimed to capture the amber heat of a late summer sunset. The firey Cadmium sky, against the deep sable tones of the ocean, is a striking palette.
The heavy texture adds depth and makes the colours and contours pop, as the light moves across the canvas.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The cadmium and sable tones, are developed by layering and lifting the paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
