Every painting is something of a search ... a search to find a style; a subject, just something that seems to work. This painting went through the normal stages. Is it worth carrying on? Can I really paint at all? but then, after an hour and a half or so, it seemed to look OK.. in fact (at time of writing, only just finished) I'm quite happy with it.
I hope other people feel the same..
