The sun is beginning to tinge the clouds with a golden sunset and the distant hills are turning shades of brown along the shore of the Solent. Along the shore where the tide is withdrawing are a range of sea birds either drifting on the waters or dipping for the small creatures which are being uncovered on the beach. A solitary swan swims with them.
