I wanted to paint love...to create an image that evokes the feeling of passionate connection. While searching for reference I happened upon an image of Svetlana Zakharova and Roberto Bolle, the principal dancers of La Scala Theatre Ballet in rehearsal. I am a big fan of these amazing dancers so I had great time painting this one which became a portrait of their beautiful partnership. There is something magical about dancers and their ability to convey deep emotions with infinite grace. I kept the edges soft so the figures almost melt into each other and appear suspended in a light filled space evoking the floating, dreamlike atmosphere of love.
