Original artwork description:

Late summer is the best time of year to visit the Mosel when the grapes are being harvested for the wine and the sunshine is soft, giving you those earthy colours. In the old quarter of the well-known wine producing village of Piesport, I discovered this hidden gem in the shadows. It is easily overlooked by people whizzing by on their bikes with eyes straight ahead but I have a soft spot for old buildings that have been deserted and left to decay. This very old building is a quaint and charming sight - a real "lost place" and reminder of former times in Piesport. Behind the unusually formed gable, there is a larger, now derelict complex where monks and peasants once lived, working the land and producing, among other things, - yes, wine! Now protected under the historic monuments scheme, the "Klausenhof" is actually for sale but it needs quite a bit of restauration work! It would be wonderful if someone decided to save it from what seems to be its certain fate of irreversible deterioration and I fear that it will be lost one day as this part of the village is often inundated by the Mosel in winter. So here it is immortalized in watercolour in the soft shadows of a late summer afternoon in Piesport, Germany.

"Lost Place, Klausenhof, Piesport" was painted on on site at the Mosel in Germany on Hahnemühle 600g mould-made watercolour paper using Windsor and Newton paints. It comes mounted in a warm white mount to fit a frame size of 40x50cm and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
