Original artwork description:

The background was painted in multiple layers of paint that working together in my finished artwork – thus a richer color effect. Each layer was complemented by texture effects (scratches, pencil lines, pastels, etc.). As a result, the background of the painting looks like a grungy old background with different colors and textures.

At the bottom of the painting is depicted an old playing card "Knave of Coins" from the oldest known European deck (c. 1390–1410). On one of the detailed images of the painting, you can compare the photo of a real card with a drawn one.
I adore playing cards because I'm a professional magician.

Just at the end of the outgoing year, I finished another Coursera online course: "Modern Art & Ideas by The Museum of Modern Art". In one of the lessons, the African-American artist and storyteller Jacob Lawrence were studied. The unusual position of human figures and their angular forms in Jacob Lawrence's paintings inspired me to depict just such a shape of the silhouette.
I made the shape of the silhouette very thick layers, thick enough that the brush strokes are visible. Impasto provides texture; the paint appears to be coming out of the canvas, it adds expressiveness to the painting.
