Original artwork description:

One day I was on the A train in NYC, and I looked up to see this sparkling animated woman having a conversation with a man next to her. I knew I had to make contact. So, I went up to her, gave her my card, said I'd like to draw her and would she call me? And she did!

Her name is Karyn Gerhardt. We went on to become friends and I did photographs, drawings, and four finished paintings of her. This is one of them. Here I seemed to have caught her pensive side. What was it about her that inspired me? Well, she had a beautiful face, and the most exquisite mouth and skin. And when together - whether working or playing - we enjoyed a lot of laughter. But ultimately, whatever force that insisted on being expressed in my work remains a mystery. Nature of the muse?

We didn't know each other long, but I am grateful for the time we had.
