This work is a visual manifestation of the unstable visual relationship that exits between a viewer and a landscape in modern society. The landscape is askew, and we are being blinded by a dark form which only shows us a small window through which to view our surroundings. The black form itself resembles an architectural window structure. The many faceted relationship that we ordinarily share with the land is stunted and distorted in this dark scene.
This work is an unconventional collage - its base layer is an oil painting on a shaped wooden panel, and its top layer is made with thin MDF panel, canvas and acrylic paint.
