Original artwork description:

This started out as a life painting. By the end I wasn't happy with the result and reworked it in my studio, including colour and edges. Unlike a portrait commission, sometimes I have a debate with myself about whether representing the actual model is more important to me or whether the painting itself is the thing. Often it depends on whether I have painted the model several times already.
