'Looking East from Steyning Bowl' is an original limited edition reduction linocut print, printed on a press in my studio by me. It is a companion print to my other print 'Steyning Bowl'.
Edition of 12, image measures 40 x 25cm It is a Varied Edition as the sky in each print is different, because of the way the clouds have been inked. Please note - this is my stock photo - please ask for more images if you would like to buy this print.
This is a reduction linocut: this means that it is made up of several layers of ink. The lino is cut, and numerous copies are printed with the first colour. The lino is then cut again, and the new colour printed over the first. This same process is repeated as often as necessary. There is no way back with this process, and no margin for error!
After the image is transferred to the lino, it is cut with lino tools and then printed with professional printmaking inks on to Zerkall Extra Smooth printmaking paper.
Each print is an original - even if the lino is the same there will always be slight differences which render any print unique.
Linocuts are original handmade prints and not reproductions. I am very proud to say that all my prints are printed with real ink, on real paper, on a real press, by me!
(Giclee prints, for example, are only reproductions, produced in the same way as a home printer prints pictures from a computer.)
This print comes unmounted and unframed. It will be enclosed in a cellophane wrapper and packed carefully for shipping.
