The image on Artfinder is taken on a copystand of the framed photograph that is for sale, I have cropped out the matt & the frame & left it on the edge of the matt where there is a black slip, no retouching has been done, the actual framed photograph looks much better than the image you are seeing.
This is a 20"x16" A/P [artists proof] hand print (C Type) printed in the darkroom by myself while I was living in Miami. I printed it using an oversize neg carrier to get the black line on the paper around the image. This is caused by the light from the enlarger going past the edge of the negative, which goes black on the light sensitive paper. This detail gives another frame but can only be done when printing 'full frame' and is very difficult.
It was shot on 35mm Kodak Gold 100 asa, colour negative film. Which made it technically difficult, as 100 asa is a slow film which needs lots of light, and I was shooting using just the available light in a nightclub ! Using a shutter speed of 1/3 of a second at F2.8, hand held, whilst trying to manually focus in a dark club.
The slow shutter speed gives the image an amount of 'motion blur', which I like, and I also love the deep colours.
acid free, archival, Nielsen black aluminium frame.
