Original artwork description:

A train journey from Stockholm to Vemdalen in the north of Sweden - sleet turning to snow... There was no opportunity for the artist to sketch this scene and therefore the painting was executed entirely from a photo. It was important to recognise the limitations of this method and to soften shadows and to lessen the contrast between light and dark.
