Original artwork description:

I've long admired James Guthrie Goose Girl Painting "To Pastures New". The looseness and freedom he paints with contrasts beautifully with the smoothness of the girl's face. His mastery of colour also appeals to me. As an artist clear clean colours is the ambition and, once its achieved, trying to find the balance and contrast using dirtier tones beside the clean. Using Guthrie as inspiration I decided to paint my own gaggle of geese and balance along the line between dirty whites and fresh tonal greys.

Over the last four or five months life has changed considerably. With roads quieter and everyone at home suddenly birdsong seems to be everywhere. My studio is in the garden with bird-feeders outside the windows. I thought I would fill my lockdown by painting my companions in isolation. There is a great comfort in nature continuing oblivious to these strange times, busts of colour and life.

Artwork comes framed in a 75mm Bronze floral embossed (high pattern) wooden mold, ready to hang without glass. Oil paintings stay healthiest with air flow over the canvas surface, it also allows you to see the texture of the paint without reflection.

Materials used:

oil painting, canvas board
