The second painting in the Loch Gorm or Blue Loch series of mountain lake landscapes. In this painting I have come closer to the shores of the remote Loch, where the wind is picking up the spray from the waves lapping against the shore, as the clouds and rain approaches the hills in the background.
This is an atmospheric Scottish mountain loch or lake landscape painting. In this painting I have tried to portray the wild weather and landscape of the west coast Scottish highlands with its cloud covered hills, bleak heather moorland and small lochs or lochans, It is entitled Lochan Gorm, gaelic for The Blue Loch, as it features a blue coloured loch, which due to the sand below the surface usually remains a blue colour despite the changing weather, similar to the famous Green Loch in the Cairngorm mountains.
Painted in a quick gestural manner with a palette knife and mostly my fingers, I hope to have captured the atmosphere of this remote, wild and secluded area of the Scottish highland wilderness, with it's ever changing weather.
Painted using quality artists acrylics on a small square format 8" x 8" (20 x 20cm) canvas, with a varnish finish and white hand painted wooden frame with cord ready to hang.
