I was inspired by this magnificent mountain lake Loch Shiel, Glenfinnan and I wanted to bring this spectacular landscape using detailed brush strokes and bright colours. Painting cliffs and mountains is one of my obsessions recently; combining them with the beauty of the lake brought a different kind of meaning to me. This painting is about the reflection of your thoughts, it is about finding happiness and peace within yourself. It is about finding who you are in the serenity of your mind.
Loch Shiel is a freshwater loch situated 20 kilometres west of Fort William in the Highland Council area of Scotland. The surrounding highlands are picturesque but relatively rarely climbed. A number of the hills are classified as Corbetts, including Beinn Resipol, Sgùrr Ghiubhsachain and Sgorr Craobh a' Chaorainn on the southern side of the loch; and Beinn Odhar Bheag on the northern side.
I use the highest-grade archival materials in creating this artwork to ensure that this painting is ready to withstand the ages. All of my Originals come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish. The painting is unframed, it is wired in the back on the stretcher bars and ready to hang.
