Loch Maree – original oil painting on canvas by Julie Arbuckle

As painted in late summer from the woodland walk on the lower slopes of Beinn Eighe. I have to admit, the midgies were terrible and it was my first experience of painting with a head net on. Not easy! But the results were worth the bites. I think I managed to remove all midgies which got trapped on the surface of the wet paint, although you may encounter a bonus midge still stuck to the canvas board!

Loch Maree is an incredibly beautiful loch – even by Scottish standards – and is often said to be the most picturesque in Scotland.

Framed in white with a plain white slip.
