Loch Eck, located on the Cowal peninsula in Argyll is one of my favourite lochs with the hills towering behind the west shore. The view never fails to impress, depending on the time of day, the wind direction and the presence or not of sunlight it can appear calm and peaceful or dark and mysterious. Nightfall is imminent in this painting and the moon is already high in the sky casting a gentle light over the loch, illuminating the trees and highlighting the little boat in the foreground and the slipway behind. The composition is continued on the edges to allow hanging without framing if required.
stretched canvas, acrylic paint
