Whilst doing this picture, I did a lot of thinking about art and what art is. This picture would not have existed without the art that came before it, it could be the thoughts of previous artists or it could be previous art movements. Art is a living thing that will never die, it mutates to reflect the lives we live. Sadly in today’s world, it reflects mass production, the pursuit of money and fame, resulting in artworks being reduced to and known as products. Our throw-away culture. Art deserves far more respect than it is given, art will always take a step back before taking two steps forward, it is just that at the moment it has stepped into a puddle. The spirits, past and present, will make sure that the next step is a dry one.

Promarkers, acrylic paints and soft pastels on Bristol board.
