Living in a box is an artwork from the series Good Girls revolt.

Life as a woman is often restricted. We have learned to be, think and feel in a way that best suits our environment, how it is expected of us and how we best fit into prefabricated boxes in our environment. We have learned that we have to be different than we naturally are. And at the same time we have learned to constantly fight against our lives, our needs and ourselves.

However, sooner or later we come to a point where we realize that we are not happy in some way. We get an inkling and longing that we want to feel deep joy, happiness, love towards ourselves and our own lives and we realize that we cannot do this.

The painting was created on a wooden background using mixed media techniques (painting, graphics and relief printing). The sides are painted and it is finished with a matte UV varnish. It will be shipped ready to hang.
