A portrait of fading species: Egretta caerulea

The Little blue heron can be found in both salt and freshwater ecosystems, from the United States to northern South America, although climate change will probably cause their distribution to spread north.

According to North American Native tradition, the Blue Heron brings messages of self-determination and self-reliance, which is why I depicted a self-determination symbol in the background.

What can you do to help conserve this gorgeous bird? advocate locally to close wading-bird colonies to human disturbance during the breeding season; advocate for wetlands and water purity conservation.
