Artwork description:

The title is a mining term. A ‘Stope’ is the space created between two solid walls of granite. The looser ‘shale’ is removed between the two walls creating a space called the Stope. ‘A Little bit of Loose’, refers to large boulders left wedged between the solid granite walls, precariously hanging over head! Walk into a cave and look up!
I love it. It is mysterious, scary, and kind of dangerous.

Materials used:

Clay. Oxides and slips for decoration.
