Wolves that once roamed the entire country have been nearly wiped out in all but a few wilderness areas. A nearby preserve, where I photographed this subject, offers us a chance to view these beautiful animals in a natural environment.

Painting surface is built up on a panel in multiple layers with palette knife and brushes in an impressionistic style and impasto texture.
