"Listen to the Colour #5" (see below for the description of the series) is a bold, punchy and edgy abstract. The colours are bright, though tender and organic - the main colours blue, orange/yellow in combination with green and a tender rose reminds me of early pansies.
While working on the first paintings of the "Listen to the Colours" series, I thought about people who are known as synesthetes. That means that the stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second. So synesthetes - for example - look at a colour or painting and translate this into sound or reverse: see colours when they hear music. I'm not a synesthet, but the idea of how my paintings would sound or what song would have the colours of my paintings, was fascinating!
"Pansy" is painted on self stretched linen canvas with a transparent priming; due to the transparent priming the natural colour of the linen is part of the painting.
Acryclic, charchoal and ink on linen canvas. Signed on the front and signed and dated on the back.
Sealed with a professional matt varnish (Lascaux) for protection and to optimize the colours. The sides are also linen with some traces of paint. A professional hanger is already mounted.
100 x 100 x 2 cm | 39.4 x 39.4 x 0.8 in.
As mentioned before, "Listen to the Colour" is a series. The other paintings will match perfectly, so if you need - or want - more than one painting, have a look at them!
