Acrylic cityscape expressionistic painting featuring an iconic Alfama district view in Lisbon, Portugal. The Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon. Its name comes from the Arabic Al-hamma, meaning "hot fountains" or "baths". Alfama is only the one from Lisbon neighbourhoods that was survived after 1755 great earthquake and tsunami. On the left upper corner of this painting is a baroque style Church of Santa Engrácia - now National Pantheon (Panteão Nacional), in which important Portuguese personalities are buried.
The idea of this painting comes from the feeling of the greatness and fragility of human civilisation that can be easily destroyed by the forces of the nature.

This painting is influenced by expressionist and post-impressionist artists includes Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne, also Russian early 20 century avant-garde.

Materials: acrylic paints on canvas.
