Limca is a lemon-and-lime flavoured carbonated soft drink made primarily in India. I first had it when I ate at the mighty Dishoom Indian restaurant in East London many years ago.
I loved the bright retro bottle design with it's awesome 60s style typographic logo. I took a picture of it and vowed to paint it in my pop art style. For this miniature canvas I opted to paint the can version as I love the little circular lemon and lime segment graphics that decorate it.
Even if you've never even had this pretty rare Indian soft drink, I like to think that the design of it can appeal to anyone.
The end result is a bold painting that would brighten up any room in your home, but would probably look specially at home in the kitchen.
It is painted in acrylics and Posca paint pens on a stretched cotton canvas. It's signed and dated on the back frame, as depicted.

8.3 inches x 5.8 inches

I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield, and by modern day graphic designers and food packaging.
