Original artwork description:

This is a small painting I did of a water lily pond near Seattle. The inspiration for all of my recent water lily paintings - both oil and watercolor - are from the same day visit. While I never intended them to become a series, it has sort of worked out that way. And, I've found it both interesting and instructive. Presently, there are two watercolors and two oils in this series.
While I was working on this as an oil painting, I decided it would also be a good watercolor. So , I have used the same references to paint this scene in watercolor. In both cases , I was drawn to its abstract qualities. You decide which one you prefer.
Water lilies have cycled through my body of work at various times. They are symbolic of renewal , purity , peace.
