Last year I discovered this paradise of a view not far from where I live. It reminds me of the hollow pond, not far from where I grew up in Snaresbrook on the edge of East London's Epping Forest which was the backdrop to my childhood outdoors either riding horses, having adventures with friends, walking (many) miles with my father or catching tiny fish in jars with nets on bamboo canes which we bought at the newsagent. To me this lake has my memory bottled and made real, but also has the air of somewhere else, somewhere slightly tropical - how one might remember such a childhood playground - with a dreamlike quality.
