Painted on-site at the MN Landscape Arboretum's Lilac Hill. Features a collection of lilac bushes in spring bloom in shades of deep purple, magenta-purple, mauve, light lilac, and lavender blue. The lilacs are accented by a crown of delicately painted evergreen treetops, a colorful spring sky of rich blues, white clouds, and touches of yellow sunlight, and a bed of lush green grass. The running, watery effects in the sky were created with casein paint and glazed over with oil. The shape of the blossoms is enhanced by the use of thickly textured oil paint, applied with both palette knife and brush. This painting captures the essence of a beautiful seasonal moment that only happens once a year! The canvas is stretched on 1" stretcher bars with painted sides. It is ready to hang as is, or will fit easily into a frame.
