acrylic colour on acid free watercolour paper 300gm weight , 8.4 x 11.5 in, 21.5 x 29.5cm
From sketching while I wait … this one at a clinic, my health sucks. So I end up spending too much time in hospital waiting areas, clinic waiting rooms. And this is where I end up sketching what or who I see around me. This painting is inspired from one of those sketches of mine …
Small projects in A4 size are great to work out ideas, and just as a way of staying agile with colour and paper. The lines are fluid, the colours simple, spontaneous and expressive. The challenge is to put movement into the painting with colour and ‘splash’. The simpler result can be quite refreshing. I often get impulsive when I paint, making the painting uniquely different from the sketch or the ‘plan’.
The close up picture is to give a better sense of the paint, paper and the brush stroke. Then there’s the work in progress, and the sketch which served as the inspiration for this work.
