Artwork description:

Lighthouses are promising freedom and safety, they are landmarks and symbols... Reason enough for me to start a series with linocutprints. As the black-and-white versions were ok but did not satisfy me I tried to add some color with watercolors. A challenging task as the absorbing Japanpaper is not really good for watercolors and the waterbased color I use for the print is easily washed out, mixes with the color and transforms everything into a sad grey...
Here is one of my lighthouses, the Mäuseturm in Bremen, securing the entrance to the harbour for wood and imdustry at the edge of the new developped area Überseestadt.
It comes rolled safely in a tube.
