This abstract landscape began as a collage of watercolor pieces, which were then cut and mounted on canvas, and then overpainted in oils. My working methods aims for a balance between painting just enough so that the scene reads as it should, and retaining enough of the freshness and abstract nature of the collage. This collage also includes a painted fragment of a copy of Scripture from Psalm 119: 105-106, which reads, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep Your righteous judgment.” I painted this in gratitude for the ways the Lord guides me, and I know that there are many brothers and sisters who share that gratitude in their own lives. The painting has been given a satin varnish for protection, and hanging hardware is already installed.
