Light Green Dark Purple / Oil Painting 17
“After three years of working with oil paint, I finally got to the “balance” on a large scale with this piece. For myself, I felt the small works I had been making over this time had a certain balance and cohesion to them. But that the large works were doing something different, in a way I had stopped trying, and instead moved to a state of exploration with them.
One day at the end of September, with a lot of internal energy, and that drive to convert movement into colour and form. Beginning with gestural full arm strokes, that slowly became finer details, I created this in 3 hours.” This was the final piece created that year, and also the title piece for the exhibition that followed soon after.

Materials used:

Oil paint on linen canvas
