This image is derived from a poem of the same title by Thomas Hardy. Two friends pass on the road one foggy morning in 1867 and exchange news. One tells of his new-born son while the other reports the death of an old man they know. The conversation continues,
“— So, he's gone at last. He always had a strong constitution.”
“— He was ninety odd. He could call up the French Revolution.”
Technical description: an original relief print pulled from engravings cut in rubber. The complete edition is 4 prints only. The sheet is 10½ x 15 inches (263x381mm) and the image is 6½ x 9½ inches (165x241mm). I can trim the sheet to a particular size if you would like. Please feel free to contact me to put a question or make a remark.
