I am very familiar with Dungeness and I liked the way the level crossing bisected the landscape, connecting the remote houses to the railway tracks and the world beyond.

I prepared my sketches for this painting on site as I wanted to bring a strong sense of place to the painting.

It is an intriguing subject that will provide an interesting talking point.
