Letter about death at the front in Chechnya
The painting was conceived and painted while studying at Russian Academy of Painting Sculpture and Architecture in his second year. I intended it as a triptych. I made a lot of sketches. This is an understanding of war as a tragedy for nations and a personal drama that brings family losses in the form of loved ones. My family and friends posed for the painting. My grandmother Kozhina A.I. posed for the woman reading the letter, and for the widow girl crying on the floor with laundry, Bezobrazova E.A., a classmate at Russian Academy of Painting Sculpture and Architecture. The task was to make the picture as readable as possible with elements of psychology.
