“Lennox Heads Afternoon Light”

50cm x 70cm
Oil on Canvas

As a younger man I was a singer in a blues band so I would make the annual trip from Melbourne to Byron Bay for the yearly Blues Festival back in the days when it was die hard blues fans.

In all those years I had travelled to Byron I never made the trip between Byron Bay and Balina.

Recently I had the good fortune to visit for a week and paint some of the dramatic headlands and cliffs towering above the ocean. What a rare gem of a spot for artists it is around the Lennox Heads area.

On one afternoon as the sun was getting lower and hurriedly climb to the top of the headland and snapped of a series of photos to paint. This painting is the result ... a view of Lennox Heads in the later afternoon light.

Looking forward to another painting trip their soon.

Note - This painting is unframed but ready to hang with a hanging wire on the back. Please be aware that my painting style is loose and impressionistic ... as such the edges are not neatly finished as that would detract from the style and spontaneity of the painting approach.

Materials used:

Oil on Stretched Canvas
