Original artwork description:

Photorealistic colorful tropical bird painting/portrait of the cassowary, also known as dinosaur bird, or one of the most dangerous birds in the world. I channel my enthusiasm for the amazing characteristics of animals by rendering them with academic oil painting techniques on canvas. The red sun indicates life & the universe. The background is light cream/beige.

The cassowary is a large flightless bird. The cassowary has a black body, a blue face and neck, red wattles hanging down around its throat, and horn-like casque. The name cassowary seems to be of Papuan origin. “Kasu” means horned, and “weri” means head, referring to the bird’s helmeted head.

Cassowaries are full of legends and mystical powers. People in New Guinea believe that cassowaries are reincarnations of female ancestors, while others believe they are the primal mother. In Japanese cassowaries are called "Hikui-Dori", means "The birds eat fire" because the red wattles on the throat look like fire.
