In the Chinese village of Shilin the son of the village leader Azhi fell in love with a beautiful girl called Ashima. However Ashima already had a lover and was not interested in Azhi’s advances. Azhi in a jealous rage caused a flood in the river and drowned the beautiful Ashima. Ashima became the famous stone of Shilin in the Stone Forest. The locals say the stone looks like a girl with a kerchief on her head and a basket on her shoulders and if you call her name she will answer and her voice will echo through the forest.
