I have whole series of plein air paintings of the hill top village of Collamato – I find this place in the Marches region of Italy so inspiring. This painting depicts its typical stonework and pastel shades of worn out plasterwork buildings in that special late summer Italian light. The dry wind that blows through the old streets causes the first autumn leaves to fall early and gather in sheltered spots. Really, this painting celebrates the beauty of the old and worn.

600g Hahnemühle, 100% cotton rag, rough, mould-made paper, Windsor and Newton watercolour paints
