The woman in this painting is inspired by the first Wife of Chagall; Bella. Chagall was completely in love with Bella, and made her his muse, owing to her a tremendous body of his works. Whenever I paint a white, ruffled collar on a female subject, I am emotionally referencing Bella Chagall, in other words, someone who is Dearly Loved, For me personally, this image is apt, as I am physically moving between two Continents, and taking in breathtaking views of villages and on the edge of the Sea. Metaphorically, I am hovering in the skies, where my life’s viewpoint and perspective is enhanced, and I am able to survey several situations at one time. This canvas is painted around the edges so it can be hung unframed if preferred.
