On my first visit to New York several years ago I stumbled upon what turned out to be Washington Square. I stayed for a couple of hours observing life around me - people talking, playing chess, feeding the pidgeons. One fellow played Chopin on a piano that was there to be used by anybody. And so it was, brilliantly. Humanity at its best.
