Original artwork description:

Mounted wood panel with edges painted black. Ready to hang.

--------------

I love the idea of self-portraits, only because I am an easily persuadable participant...and I'm relatively inexpensive. However, as I get older, I am less and less fond of doing any self-portrait that is particularly "ME". I like to just be a character, just like in "real" life.

I live in a small borough in Pennsylvania called Malvern. My house was just on the edge of an ancient junk heap (where everyone dumped there stuff at the turn of the century). Now this did not help the houses that were built upon it...they sunk and had to be demolished. As they were digging the sites out odd things were dug up; bottles, bikes, stoves, artificial limbs, and goodness knows what else.

This go me thinking about the mysteries that could exist in my own backyard...who knows what is lurking under the well-coiffed veneer of perfect grass and kids play sets.

I hoping there's an octopus...or something similar!

Materials used:

Acrylic, spray paint, vinyl lettering, rice paper
