The Summer colours are fading and fields of corn are ripening to yellow and gold. In the distance the lavender fields have reached their peak and wild scabious is flowering where the footpath runs.
This painting is based on a view at Hitchin Lavender. It's a wonderful place - you can walk up and down the lavender rows and cut yourself some stalks in a paper bag (they even give you the scissors!). But my favourite bit is the wild flower area where scabious, Queen Annes Lace (wild carrot) and other beauties are quietly doing their thing while the lavender takes centre stage.
The painting is an impressionistic interpretation of this summery landscape using soft purples and warm golds.
The painting is supplied in an off white mount and will fit a frame size 50cm x 50cm.
acrylic and ink
