A striking, detailed portrait of an iris flower. Painted on-site at the MN Landscape Arboretum. It is a tall bearded iris. This variety of iris is called "Latin Lover". It features deep pink petals with white edges on the bottom, white petals streaked with light pink on the top, and a golden center. The background foliage is painted in shades of green and blue green, and includes iridescent oil paint for a subtle shimmer. The painting is done on board. It is framed in a 3" wide wood frame with a black finish and a gold inner edge.
