Inspired by the different seasons, this piece depicts some of my favourite flowers seen around the latter part of Summer. I like to visit gardens around the country for such inspiration to observe not only the beautiful flowers themselves, but to see how they have been arranged and put together.

The hydrangeas are one of my Mum's favourite flowers, they always remind me of her! Seeing the different colours according to the quality of the soil is fascinating and the blue ones seem to me, to be the most unusual. Yellow rudbeckia flowers always add brightness and good colour contrasts within any arrangement and I enjoy using them to create my compositions and bring them to life. This particular variety I believe is often referred to as "Indian Summer". I'm always looking at colour composition with such arrangements and placing the yellow of these flowers together with the beautiful magenta pink verbena is always interesting.

I am not a gardener of any sort however, I create my compositions in a way in which I feel a creative landscaper may do also.

This piece is one of hopefully many floral group paintings I am currently working on.
