Original title:
July 10, last light of the sun
Landscape of Auvergne, France.
From the windows of my studio, I wanted to capture the last rays of the sun, the melancholy of a slowly slipping away end of day.
I was captivated by the contrast between the mountains, with their cold, dark, almost austere hues, already enveloped by the night, and the clouds rising above this land mass with an ephemeral lightness and grace adorned with the warm colors of the sunset. I tried to capture the fluid movement of the air and the fleetingness of the light and this poetic tension between the immutable and the ephemeral.
The white finish on the sides of the canvas allows, if you wish, a frameless suspension.
This painting is painted with professional grade oil colors on a primed canvas. I prepare myself my canvases to create a texture specific to my painting needs and to insure them maximum longevity.
