Artwork description:

This print shows the last blast furnace in Redcar. Closed in 2015, it was part of Teesside Steelworks; at one time there were 91 blast furnaces in this area but by the late 1970s, there was only one left on Teesside.

It's an original reduction linocut print, using just one block of lino and a process of carving away the lino between each layer of colour to produce the final image (version 1 has a blue sky and version 2 has no sky).

It is a limited variable print from an edition of 6 prints using Zerkall extra smooth printing paper, 145gsm and Lawrence linseed oil relief printing inks. The image size is 30.5cm x 30.5cm with a generous margin to allow for framing.

My linocuts are handmade from start to finish - hand carved, inked and handprinted, and as such they will have small variations between prints - making each print into a unique artwork. All of my prints are flat packed if delivered within the UK, and will be sent packaged in tissue and a tube if delivered outside of the UK.

If you have any questions, please just get in touch and thanks for taking a look!
