Original artwork description:

This work is born from a process of deliberate accumulation and subsequent excavation. Years of layered oil paint, built on my palette, become a stratified record of my practice. These accumulated layers, once dried, are not discarded but rather seen as a rich, untapped resource – a quarry of color and texture.
I slice and extract sections of this built-up pigment, revealing the hidden histories within. These sections, imbued with the physicality of dried oil, are then arranged and adhered to the canvas, forming a sculptural relief. The resulting composition is a deliberate exploration of both control and chance. While the arrangement of these "excavated" elements is carefully considered, the inherent fluidity and organic nature of the paint itself introduce an element of the unpredictable.
This process mirrors the geological processes of layering and erosion, suggesting landscapes and formations found in the natural world. The vibrant colors, exposed through the slicing, retain a raw immediacy, a direct link to the material's inherent beauty. The edges, thick with accumulated pigment, further emphasize the work's sculptural quality, creating a tangible border that invites tactile exploration.
"Landscape 2025" is not merely a painting, but a constructed terrain, a testament to the transformative potential of paint beyond its traditional application. It is an attempt to capture the essence of natural processes, translating them into a visual language that speaks to the inherent beauty and complexity of both the medium and the world it seeks to reflect. This work is an invitation to explore the stratified history of color and form, to witness the transformation of paint from a fluid medium to a sculpted landscape.
